Understanding the Need for Safer Communities

The Current Landscape

Americans are feeling less safe and secure in their communities. Growing communities, such as Jefferson County, are not immune from the issues facing so many places, including increased crime and dissatisfaction with the criminal justice system.  These concerns leave citizens feeling vulnerable and uneasy.  We must take all reasonable measures to ensure the safety of Jefferson County's citizens and visitors.  The Prosecuting Attorney plays a unique role in leading this effort.  As Prosecuting Attorney, my first acts in office were to meet with law enforcement leadership, community groups, and other stakeholders to build support for a comprehensive agenda to address crime and quality of life issues facing our community.  It is through cooperation between law enforcement and the community that trust and truly collaborative efforts are created.

The Role of Community Engagement

Community engagement is vital in addressing safety concerns. When residents come together and work with law enforcement and other community resources, they can create a support system that fosters trust and cooperation. I believe that a unified community can effectively tackle issues such as violent crime, including domestic violence, as well as the proliferation of substance use disorder affecting our citizens. By working together, residents can share resources, knowledge, and strategies to enhance their safety and the well-being of the community.

Adam Ward's Vision for Safer Communities

Adam Ward's campaign is built on three key objectives:

  1. Focused Efforts in Prosecuting Violent Crimes and Drug Dealers: Taking the most dangerous criminals off the streets and protecting the community.

  2. Protecting the Most Vulnerable Among Us: Children and the Elderly

  3. Promoting Resources for Victims and Community Members: Addressing the needs of the community and, most especially victims, by connecting them with valuable resources such as counseling and substance use disorder treatment options.
